Generator Interconnection Study Services

Solar, wind, and storage interconnection support for applicable cluster processes and network interconnection requirements. Model quality, ride-through review, and a submission built for a defensible utility review.

Solar generation facility prepared for grid interconnection
Core scope

Queue-ready model quality

A controlled model with documented inputs and assumptions helps the review team identify gaps before formal comments.

Wind generation assets evaluated for grid connection
System security

Ride-through and IBR compliance

PRC-029-1 establishes frequency and voltage ride-through requirements for applicable inverter-based resources; project applicability and enforcement status should be confirmed for the relevant entity and region.

Why eGridSync

Queue risk, managed early

A strong interconnection package is built before the cure window, not inside it.

Our process

From project inputs to decision-ready output.

Solar, wind, and storage interconnection support for applicable cluster processes and network interconnection requirements. Model quality, ride-through review, and a submission built for a defensible utility review.

01

Pre-application readiness

Data gap review against the specific transmission provider’s requirements before the window opens.

02

Model build and validation

Plant model, inverter settings, plant controller, collector system, reactive capability at the POI.

03

Study execution

Steady-state, short circuit, and stability. PSCAD EMT study where the ISO requires it.

04

Submission support

Package assembly to the provider’s format, plus rapid turnaround inside the cure window.

05

Review and restudy response

Comment response matrix; restudy support when a higher-queued project withdraws.

generator interconnection FAQ

Questions before the work begins.

01What changed with FERC Order 2023?

The serial first-come, first-served process is gone. All transmission providers now use an annual cluster study on a first-ready, first-served basis, with commercial readiness requirements and financial deposits at each phase.

02When can I submit an interconnection request?

Only during your transmission provider’s Cluster Request Window, which is generally open for 45 calendar days and typically occurs annually.

03What happens if my application has a deficiency?

You get a short cure period — commonly 10 business days — to correct it.

04Do I need a PSCAD study, or is PSS®E enough?

It depends on the transmission provider and the project. PSS®E positive-sequence modelling covers steady-state and conventional stability. PSCAD electromagnetic transient modelling is increasingly required for inverter-based resources.

05What is IEEE 2800 and does it apply to my project?

IEEE 2800-2022 establishes uniform technical minimum requirements for inverter-based resources connecting to transmission and sub-transmission systems.

06What is an affected system study?

When your project affects a neighbouring transmission system, that neighbouring provider runs its own study.
